Independent, experienced, supportive

My background is in Education: I taught for 10 years in a state sector primary school where I was head of a large Key Stage 1 department. After completing a Master’s degree in Education and having my three children, I also qualified to provide learning support for children with specific learning difficulties (SpLD).

Crucially, I have direct personal experience of the importance of choosing the right school for a child with additional needs, having navigated numerous assessments and consultations with a range of professionals before finding appropriate schools for my sons.

As an independent educational consultant I am passionate about supporting parents in finding the best school environments for children and young people of all ages, including those experiencing autism spectrum condition, dyslexia, emotional and behavioural difficulties, ADHD, ADD, OCD, PDA, high ability, general learning difficulties, and physical or sensory impairments.

Lorna recognises that specialist environments, which understand young people and focus on their therapeutic needs, give looked-after children the best chance of overcoming early-life trauma and related attachment issues.
